In an era where creativity meets technology, our Engineering I course aims to immerse students in an interdisciplinary approach that bridges the gap between imagination and functional design. This course is at the heart of where science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics converge, providing students with the opportunity to not just learn, but to innovate. Starting with the foundational Engineering Design Process, students will gain an understanding of the systematic method professionals use to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. As the course progresses, students will master the art of 3-D Modeling using industry-leading tools like Autodesk Inventor and Blender, ensuring their designs are both imaginative and technically sound. Moving from conceptualization to visualization, the inclusion of Graphic Design using Adobe Illustrator amplifies students' ability to communicate their ideas effectively, aesthetically, and with precision. One of the standout features of this course is the Authentic Learning Projects. Students will undertake real-world challenges such as designing a Kalimba, designing a ball maze, creating a scent project and packaging and innovatively approaching accessible toy design. These projects not only cultivate a deep understanding of design principles but also foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and a tangible connection to real-world applications. By the end of the Engineering I, students will have a robust portfolio that showcases their skills, creativity, and their ability to transform ideas into functional designs. This course is the precursor to the more advanced Engineering II course.
